Hyderabad, August 16 : Former PCC president D Srinivas on Friday reiterated that the Congress party would never go back on its words on formation of Telangana State.
Talking to reporters at his residence, Srinivas said that Andhra Pradesh was being divided geographically and therefore, Telugu people would remain united even after formation of two States. He said that the Telugus from both the States would continue to get same honour and response in foreign countries after State’s bifurcation. He said that the decision to form Telangana was taken only after consensus.
Stating that there was no dearth of natural resources in coastal Andhra, he said that the new State of Andhra Pradesh would register fasted growth rate after its formation. Therefore, there should be no concerns of lack of development. He said that the disputes over sharing of Godavari and Krishna waters would be resolved by the Central Water Commission. He also said that the Telangana remained backward in the last 60 years as no agreement signed for the region was properly honoured. INN
