Telangana: Over 3.5 lakh employees to go on strike from midnight

Hyderabad, August 12 : The Andhra Pradesh Non-Gazetted Officers’ Association on Monday served the final notice to the State Government stating that close to 3.5 lakh employees and other public sector organisations would go on indefinite strike from Monday midnight in protest against the bifurcation of the State.

A delegation of APNGO’s Association led by its president P Ashok Babu submitted the strike notice to Chief Secretary Dr PK Mohanty in the State Secretariat here on Monday.

Later, the APNGOs and other associations representing Seemandhra employees participated in the talks with a Group of Ministers at the State Secretariat. However, the ministers – Anam Ramnarayana Reddy, Dr N Raghuveera Reddy (Revenue), Uttam Kumar Reddy, Pithani Satyaranayana and Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha failed to pacify the Seemandhra employees to restrain from going on strike. While the employees feared that their interests were at stake, the GoM assured to address their concerns through talks. However, the talks hit a roadblock with APNGOs insisting on reversal of decision on Telangana.

Later, the Seemandhra employees also held protest near H-Block demanding that the Seemandhra minister resign from their posts. INN
