Hyderabad, Feb 18 (INN): A four-member Central team, led by Union Minority Affairs Secretary Dr Arvind Mayaram, visited Hyderabad on Wednesday to begin the process of bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh State Wakf Board.
Besides Dr Mayaram, Joint Secretary Rakesh Mohan, Under Secretary (Wakf) PK Sharma and Central Wakf Council Secretary Ali Ahmed Khan comprised the Central Team which held detailed discussions with the officials of both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on bifurcation of Wakf Board. Special Secretaries of Minorities Welfare Departments Syed Omer Jaleel (Telangana) and Shaik Mohammed Iqbal (Andhra Pradesh), Wakf Board Special Officer MJ Akbar and State Haj Committee Special Officer Prof SA Shukoor and other officials of both the States participated in the meeting with the Central team held at the State Secretariat on Wednesday.
The Central team sought details related to revenue and properties of the present Wakf Board. According to sources, except for two-three contentious issues, there are no major hurdles in the bifurcation. Therefore, the Central team expects to complete the bifurcation of process by first week of March this year.
