Hyderabad, Nov 2 : GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar opined that it should be our responsibility to take care of such children, who needs our attention.
The Commissioner along with Navin Mittal, Special Commissioner, GHMC has visited Sneha Ghar Boys Home, Ghasmandi, in Government Primary School premises, Aadaiah Nagar, Bible House, Secunderabad on Saturday to celebrate Deepavali festival with homeless children. The Commissioner said that meeting such people on this auspicious occasion make us more responsible towards the society. It was briefed by the organizers of the home that there are 50 boys who are either orphans or homeless.
Somesh Kumar distributed fruits, sweets and candles to the inmates and interacted with them. He has enquired about the conditions of the premises with S Hari Krishna, Zonal Commissioner, North Zone and knew that the flooring work was done by GHMC though the premises belongs to school education department. The Commissioner directed the ZC to put up one more 150 candle street light to the existing electrical pole in a way that it focuses into the school premises. He further directed the ZC to take up anti-larval operations in the premises.
The Commissioner has also inspected the night shelter near Bible House and interacted with the inmates. The inmates have requested the Commissioner to help them to get Aadhar Cards. While addressing the media, the Commissioner said there are 11 night shelters running in full swing in GHMC limits and 3 are MoU stage. He further said that the poor people who come for employment to city used to sleep on the footpaths, which is hazardous to their lives and health. Now they are living in night shelters until they are settled and GHMC is committed to strengthen the night shelters and establish more centres, the Commissioner added.
Additional Commissioner (UCD) D Jayaraj Kennedy and representatives of Aman Vedika (NGO) have participated in the programme. INN
