Hyderabad, July 24 : Claiming that a majority of candidates who won the Panchayat elections were backed by his party, Telugu Party President N Chandrababu Naidu said that the people have started voting for a change.
Addressing a press conference at his residence on Wednesday, Naidu said that the results of first phase of Panchayat elections have indicated that people have become tired of nine-year misrule and corruption of Congress Government. He also accused the Congress party of confining the powers of local bodies.
Naidu promised that the he would give more powers to Panchayats if his party returns to power after 2014 elections. He said that the local bodies would have no interference in their functioning and would be free to take decisions on local issue.
The TDP chief also accused the Congress Government of trying to take credit for the successful schemes launched by his government. For instance, he said the e-Seva project was renamed as Mee-Seva and now the Congress Government is trying to take credit for the same. INN
