State finalises quota for Panchayat polls

Hyderabad, July 1 : The State Government on Monday finalised the reservations for 32,385 panchayats.

As per the list sent to the State Election Commission, 10,795 panchayats has been reserved for women; 3,958 for Scheduled Castes, 1,279 for STs, 6,926 for BCs. The reservation would apply to all elected positions in gram panchayats, Mandal Praja Parishads and Zilla Praja Parishads.

According to sources, the State Government is likely to issue notification for Panchayat elections in the next two days. Elections are likely to be conducted in three phases. INN
