Hyderabad, June 18 : The Telangana Rashtra Samithi aspires to play a major role in national politics after next elections.
With the confidence of winning at least 16 Lok Sabha seats in Telangana region, the TRS feels that it would be most important party from the State at the national level after 2014 elections. The TRS leaders believe that triangular fight in Seemandhra region would limit the Congress, YSRCP and TDP to a maximum of 8-10 seats.
These aspirations were confirmed by TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday when former Rajya Sabha MP K Keshava Rao took over as the General Secretary of the party. This is for the first time after the formation of TRS in 2000 that a leader has been appointed as the General Secretary.
Talking to reporters, KCR said that the party was in touch with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee who proposed the Federal Front. He said that the TRS would play a decisive role in the formation of next government at the Centre.
Keshava Rao and other senior leaders were also present during the press conference. INN
