CM reviews JNNURM proposals, ongoing works

Hyderabad, May 29 : The State Level Steering Committee under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Wednesday reviewed the proposals for projects worth Rs 2,122 crore for which Additional Central Assistance of Rs 1130 crs are available to Andhra Pradesh under the transitional Phase of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM).

The Chief Minister said it will be cleared and sent to the Government of India immediately. Meanwhile, officials informed that under JNNURM Phase II to be started from 2014, additional Central Assistance available (ACA) for Andhra Pradesh is Rs13,200 crs and the Chief Minister said that Government of India might be requested to allocate at least Rs.20,000 crs ACA under JNNURM Phase II to A.P.

Under Phase I of JNNURM in Andhra Pradesh, out of the total 253 projects costing Rs 12,553.75 crs, 145 projects had been completed and 42 projects are at various stages and 66 projects are held up with different issues like encroachments, land acquisition, permission of Railways and UGD Projects. Some of the UIDSSMT projects are pending with different issues like delay in completion and commissioning etc.

The meeting also reviewed status of JNNURM works of GHMC. The proposed projects under transitional phase are construction of Grade separator at Tolichowki, RUB at Uttam Nagar, development of new roads like from Raj Bhavan to Begumpet link road, JNTU to Mindspace Corrridor Improvement, widening of some of the existing roads, remodelling of Nalas, Integrated Municipal Solid Waste Management Project etc. Officials said that under the Charminar Pedestrianisation Project, officials said that 90 per cent works are already completed and 70 encroachments are still to be moved. As far as Musi Revitalisation Project is concerned, 80 per cent works are completed and the Chief Minister directed the Finance Department to release Rs. 45 crs immediately so that central funds could be tapped and the project completed.

The Chief Minister also directed the officials to clearly identify the low lying areas and prepare DPRs to prevent flooding of these areas during the monsoon.
