Hyderabad, April 25 : Taking objection to the State Government’s decision to impose the Fuel Surcharge Adjustment (FSA) to the tune of Rs 609 Cr, the YSRCP accused Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy of administering the State going by the tenets of a feudal system.
“Kiran Kumar Reddy, who is presiding over a feudal system, doesn’t know the people’s problems and has been hiking the power charges every quarter unconcerned to the people’s woes,” YSRCP spokesman Janak Prasad told a press conference here.
The Government has not respected the wishes of the people who didn’t want any hike in the power charges or imposition of any surcharges.
“Our party honourary president Smt. Vijayamma, along with 30 MLAs, fasted for 5 days opposing the proposed hike or imposition of surcharges. Except for TDP, other parties too opposed the proposed hike,” Janak Prasad said, adding the Government failed to respect the people’s wishes and sentiments.
As the CM is not a people’s leader, he doesn’t know the people’s suffering, Jaank Prasad said. He charged Kiran Kumar Reddy with going back on his promise of not imposing any further burden on the power consumers.
“You have made a promise in the assembly not to burden the people further. By imposing a fresh burden of fuel surcharge for the last quarter of 2012-13, you have gone back on your promise,” he told the Chief Minister.
Janak Prasad warned the Kiran Kumar Reddy-led Congress Government it will meet the same fate in the next elections as TDP in 2004.
The TPD was kicked out of power in the 2004 polls for increasing the power charges 9 times during its regime. “The present Congress Government has also been hiking the power charges and burdening the consumers every quarter through fuel surcharges and it will also meet the same fate as TDP at the next hustings,” he said.
He wanted to know whether the Government has quenched its thirst after burdening the people to the tune of Rs.60, 000 Cr through various taxes and charges in the last four years.
“While YSR ruled the state without imposing any fresh burden on the people, you are following the footsteps of Chandrababu Naidu and you will also meet the same fate as Naidu,” he told Kiran Kumar, adding that people will teach both TDP and Congress a fitting lesson in the next elections. INN
