Eight-member gang nabbed for black-marketing match tickets

Hyderabad, March 3 : The East Zone team of Commissioner’s Task Force arrested an inter-state gang of eight people which was allegedly involved in the black-marketing of tickets of India-Australia second cricket test match being played in Hyderabad.

According to Additional DCP (Task Force) B Limba Reddy, on March 1, on credible information the East Zone team apprehended the gang headed Sudheer Kumar Pandy of Mumbai, which was involved in the sale of match tickets with the price ranging from three to four times the original price. A total of 538 match tickets and net cash of Rs 7200 were also seized from their possession.

The arrested accused includes Mohammed Farooq, Mohammed Javeed, Akash Rajender Kane, Poolchand Beni Prasad Gupta, Javeed Ahmed, Ashraf Patan and Madan Bhavarlal Vaid, all residents of Mumbai.

The Additional DCP said that Sudheer Kumar Pandy and his associates usually black market movie tickets at Plaza and Chitra Cinema Theatres of Dadar in Mumbai. In view of 2nd Test Match between India Vs Australia 2nd – 6th March, 2013 at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium at Uppal, they came to Hyderabad two days ago and took shelter in Sri Ganesh Lodge and Sri Balaji Lodge at Gowliguda, Hyderabad.

They individually purchased huge quantity of tickets for Rs 100 and Rs 300 of India Vs Australia Test Match well in advance in a fraudulent manner from various E-Seva Centers at Hyderabad, with an intention to sell them in black market at the stadium. Earlier also they came to Hyderabad, during Cricket matches, black marketed Cricket Match tickets in the same manner and made huge profits.

The apprehended accused along with the seized material were handed over to Afzalgunj Police Station for further action. INN
