Vijayawada, January 25 : TDP leaders N Chandrababu Naidu was asked to stop his padayatra keeping his health in view.

Senior leader T Devender Goud, who met him at Nandigama near here today, has asked Naidu to call off his padayatra on health grounds. He reminded Naidu that no leader has walked this far taking up public issues, Naidu’s health has not been cooperative and during the past few days, he had developed problems with his legs.

This is the third time during his padayatra that he had problems with knee, ankle and feet but he continued. He covered Rayalaseema and Telangana regions and entered Krishna district amidst high drama with one section of people opposing his entry in wake of his stand on Telangana while another group had supported him outright.

Krishna district, the hotbed of TDP politics, is the birth place of NTR and TDP received a jolt with Gudivada MLA Kodali Nani quitting the party. Nani is a close associate of Jr NTR Harikrishna made it up by meeting Naidu before he entered Krishna district sending a signal of cooperation from all the factions.

The padayatra titled Vsthunna Mee kosam, was taken up as a mass contact programme to the run-up to 2014 elections.

Since the atmosphere is charged up with agitations on both sides with strikes, dharnas and picketing elected representatives’ houses, Devender Goud’s request seems to be a strategic move to avoid any inconvenience. INN
