Hyderabad, July 30 (INN): Telangana Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao on Wednesday warned the erring officials of Irrigation Department stern action if they fail to perform their duties.
Speaking to media persons after conducting a surprise visit of Engineer-in-Chief’s office at Erra Manzil here, Harish Rao said that all officials should act responsibly in implementing the government schemes. He said that the promises made by the TRS in its election manifesto were not mere political assurances, but agenda endorsed by the people through their votes. Therefore, it is the responsibility of all officials to ensure that TRS Government fulfills all its promises. He said that the government would not tolerate corruption at any levels.
Harish Rao said that the government was planning to conduct a detailed review of all irrigation projects in Telangana State and would take action if any irregularities were found during their construction or maintenance. He said action would be taken against all officials, irrespective of their position, if they are found guilty of irregularities.
The minister directed the officials to take action to harvest rain water. He said every drop of saved water would be beneficial to the farmers of Telangana.
Earlier, during the inspection, Harish Rao rebuked the officials for improper maintenance of important files in the Engineer-in-Chief’s office. He was also angry over absence of staff in some sections.
