Hyderabad, July 24 : Affirming that the first day dharna programme to mount pressure on TDP government to implement total waiver of agriculture and DWACRA loans is a grand success, YSR Congress has said that Chandrababu Naidu should have a re-look at the figures he has announced which is less than half of the actual dues.
“Over 80 per cent of the villages across the 13 districts of the state have observed the dharna and symbolically burnt the effigies of Chief Minister for going back on his poll promises and the agitation will continue for the next two days in an intensified manner,” Party Deputy Floor Leader in the Assembly Jyothula Nehru told reporters here on Thursday.
We will continue to play our role as a responsible opposition party and highlight the failures of the state government and the response on the first day of the Narakasura Vadha has been very good and encouraging as farmers and women groups felt cheated by the TDP government.
The state government has scaled down the figure drastically and is trying to celebrate the event of keeping up its promise of waiving loans while the figures speak that they were manipulated. While there are 83 lakh eligible farmers, TDP claiming that 43 lakh farmers would benefit from the scheme shows that it has diluted the figure by half.
The same is with the women groups as the amount to be waived was said to be Rs 7,600 crores as against Rs 14,000 crores and the rider is that as and when the State waives the loans, he said.
We will continue to stand with the farmers and women groups and continue to raise the issue till the government fulfills its promise of total waiver of agriculture and DWACRA loans, he said and took objection to some of the TDP ministers using abusive language against Party President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
“The two ministers in question should remember their humble beginnings and the backdoor methods employed while our leader has bravely faced the cases which are still in the court. The two leaders jumping to conclusions makes no sense that too when they have a history of deceit,” he said. INN
