Hyderabad, July 15 : South Central Railway General Manager PK Srivastava has set the priorities and direction in undertaking Railway developmental works on the Zone in the current financial year in a review meeting conducted with all the Principal Heads of the Departments at Rail Nilayam in Secunderabad here on Tuesday.
The General Manager critically reviewed the progress of the ongoing works across various categories like providing improved facilities to passengers, track renewals, construction of Road over bridges/under bridges and level crossings etc. during the period April – June, 2014.
The physical and financial progress of the Railway developmental works have been examined in the light of the funds allotted for SCR in the recent Railway Budget. The General Manager emphasized that in view of the resource constraints, proper prioritisation is to be done after a careful review of the sanctioned works. Top priority shall be accorded to launch works related to provision of additional facilities to handle the huge rush of passengers expected at the Railway Stations concerned in connection with the Godavari Pushkarams to be celebrated next year, he stressed.
In addition, passenger amenity works for providing all the essential facilities at stations; works to take care of the needs of the people with special abilities (physically challenged); and lifts and escalators shall also get due importance in the current fiscal, the General Manager directed the officials.
