Hyderabad, June 13 : GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar on Friday ordered the seizure of five people as they obstructed the free flow of traffic.
The GHMC chief directed the officials to seize the property bearing no. 6-3-666/A/1 to 7 in survey No. 156 / 1 & 2 situated at Punjagutta main road belonging to one Maliram and five others as the owner has placed the reinforcement of steel rods on the road margin obstructing the free flow of traffic. The Commissioner issued these orders while inspecting the Metro Rail works from Ameerpet, Punjagutta and Malakpet areas along with Additional CP (Traffic) Jithender, HMR MD NVS Reddy, Additional Commissioner (Planning) P Venkata Rami Reddy and other senior officials inspected.
The Commissioner has directed the Zonal Commissioner (Central) to impose a fine of Rs 1 lakh and to stop the construction work with immediate effect. He stressed the need for maintaining free flow of traffic during the execution of Metro Rail works as lot of problems are being faced by the pedestrians, cyclist, two wheelers etc., due to narrow roads.
Somesh Kumar directed the concerned officials to acquire the properties on priority basis by land acquisition process to take up the road widening works immediately. He directed the HMR and GHMC officials to take up patch up works with BT on Metro sites and further directed to shift the electrical poles in side as it is posing dangerous to the commuters.
The Commissioner directed the officials to depute one person from HMR or GHMC to look after the cleaning of the road on the HMR sites duly coordinating with the sanitation staff to keep the site neat and tidy. The Commissioner said the main purpose of the visit is to minimize the inconvenience to the commuters for which he said a short term plan is being planned, the works on the HMR sites will be taken up within 2 to 3 days and will be implemented accordingly.
In view of the onset of the monsoon, Somesh Kumar appealed all the vendors, builders, shopkeepers and citizens to cooperate with GHMC and HMR to take up the works of the HMR Project in a proper manner without creating inconvenience to the commuters so as to complete the work in stipulated time.
