EC to hold Rajya Sabha bye-elections on July 3

Hyderabad, June 13 : The Election Commission of India has announced the schedule for bye-elections for lone seat of Rajya Sabha which fell vacant due to the demise of Dr N Janardhan Reddy.

The vacancy of Dr Janardhan Reddy from Andhra Pradesh occurred in the State of undivided Andhra Pradesh on May 9, 2014. After bifurcation, the said seat was allocated to Andhra Pradesh.

The notification for the bye-elections will be issued on June 16 while the last date of filing nominations will be June 23. The nomination will be scrutinised on June 24 and the last date for withdraw of candidature will be June 26. The polling will be held on July 3 and the counting of votes will take place on the same day.  INN
