Hyderabad, Jan 17 : The Confederation of Indian Industry – Andhra Pradesh organized a meeting and networking session with the Indo-Canadian Chamber of Commerce. The meeting was conceptualized to promote business cooperation between Andhra Pradesh and Canada especially in the areas of Information Technology, Education, Agri-Business, Infrastructure, Energy etc.
Speaking at the Session Joe Daniel, Member of Parliament, Government of Canada, in his special address pointed out that there is tremendous potential for trade opportunities between India and Canada. “Our vision is to achieve greater job opportunities and long-term prosperity for the people in Canada. To realise this objective we have a number of trade agreements in place including one with the European Union. We have tremendous scope in India and this initiative is a great networking opportunity to foster trade between the two nations for mutual growth”, he said. He also felt that there is need to be innovative and think out of the box to facilitate growth for businesses in both countries.
Naval Bajaj, President Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce gave a detailed introduction about the organization and its initiatives. He also highlighted the importance of economic opportunities available in India for Canadian small businesses and the opportunities available in Canada for Indian Investors. Drawing out synergies and strengths between Canada and Andhra Pradesh, he spoke about Food & Agriculture, Higher Education, Infrastructure and Energy as the four key sectors which have the potential to accelerate trade development amongst the two nations.
Dr. K Pradeep Chandra, Principal Secretary, Department of Industries, Govt of Andhra Pradesh, in his special address emphasized the role of Andhra Pradesh in the growth of Indian economy. He also mentioned that Andhra Pradesh has emerged as one of the most favourite investment destinations. “India today has ranked Hyderabad as no 1 in economic indicator for growth in India. The advancements in sectors like defence, biotechnology etc have a bright future in the state, he said. He also pointed out that bi-lateral trade agreements with Canada and other nations will enhance and facilitate advanced growth for the state in near future,” he added.
Sanjay Jaju, Secretary, Dept. Of Information Technology, Electronics and Communications, Government of Andhra Pradesh in his presentation elaborated the Government of Andhra Pradesh initiatives in promoting IT industry, Electronic and hardware industry in the state. Through e-governance initiative the government brought transparency in various services offered to citizens, he pointed out in his address.
Earlier, in his welcome address, B Ashok Reddy, Chairman, CII Andhra Pradesh & President – Global HR & Corporate Affairs, Infotech Enterprises Ltd delivered the welcome address. He said that Andhra Pradesh has the potential in all aspects to become the single largest contributor to India’s bi-lateral trade and growth. INN
