Hyderabad, Nov 17 : The focus has finally dawned on the scope and promotion of Childrens films in the Aran and Asian countries after the stellar surge and contributions of the Iran and Japanese film makers in the last one decade .And what every children film maker and activist wants is that the state governments which spend hugely on children’s welfare programs should allocate a sizable amount for infrastructure promotion conducive for the children films as well .
All the speakers at the ’Open Forum’ on ‘Role of State: Arab, Asian Children’s films’ conducted in connection with the 18th ICFFI emphasized on the need for overcoming the marketing problems of the childrens film makers. CFSI CEO Dr. Shravan Kumar said that to make children’s films commercially viable and resolve the distribution problems the Children Film Society India proposed a master plan to market all the films screened at the 18th International Children’s Film Festival.
Participating at the forum, Sannette Naeya, Director of Syndicate Foundation of Netherland said in the fast changing scenario where children spent more time with social media than school time the need of the hour was that the government extend support to institutions in this case they are producers of children’s movies rather than directly involving itself.
A film maker from China Dr.Hou Keming said after the economic reforms China had made leap frog advancements in the realm of children’s film making and that currently over 50-children specific channels addressed children’s issues in China. Expressing his unhappiness over the recent happenings in Egypt, writer Layali Badr said that after the Arab Spring, state media stopped the broadcast of children content. She appealed that goal of children’s film movements could be achieved only when they become seamless and not contained to entertainment only. INN
