Hyderabad, Oct 31 : The authorities on Thursday took the blood samples of relatives to ascertain the identity of victims of tragic bus fire mishap through DNA test.
According to Dr Mohammad Taqiuddin Khan, Head of OGH Forensic and Toxicology Department, blood samples of as many as 84 people have been taken to identify the bodies of 42 victims. The relatives were brought to the AP Forensic Science Laboratories at Red Hills to collect the blood samples. Since the bodies were charred beyond recognition, the authorities have decided to go for the DNA tests in order to avoid any complications in future and prevent false claims.
The DNA reports are likely to come in 8-10 days. Meanwhile, the authorities have made arrangements to assist the relatives who came from far off places to identify the victims.
It may be mentioned that as many as 45 passengers were killed when the bus of Jabbar Travel coming from Bangalore to Hyderabad caught fire near Palem in the early hours of Wednesday. Of them, only three bodies were identified at the spot itself on Wednesday. INN
