Hyderabad, Oct 27 : The Telangana Rashtra Samithi on Sunday demanded that the State Government provide immediate assistance to the rain-hit farmers in Telangana region.
Talking to reporters here, TRS deputy floor leader T Harish Rao said that several districts of Telangana region were badly affected due to heavy rains in the last six days. Crops spread across thousands of acres were damaged in Nalgonda, Mahabubnagar, Adilabad, Warangal and other districts of Telangana. He said that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy should extend immediate assistance to the affected farmers without showing any regional discrimination against them.
Meanwhile, TRS MLA Pocharam Srinivas Reddy who visited the affected areas in Adilabad, slammed the Chief Minister for not visiting the rain and flood affected areas of Telangana region. He accused him of showing regional discrimination even at a time when the farmers were hit due to the fury of nature. He said that the TRS would not tolerate any discrimination against Telangana farmers in distribution of flood relief.
Earlier, Harish Rao accused the Chief Minister of wasting crores of rupees on his publicity on the occasion of Andhra Pradesh Formation Day celebrations to be held on November 1. Stating that nearly Rs 45 crore have been spent for the event, he asked whether such an expenditure could be justified especially at time when the State is hit by natural calamities. INN
