Hyderabad, Oct 22 : All political parties unanimously assured GHMC Commissioner MT Krishna Babu that they would stand by the GHMC officials for the steps taken in order to protect public health.
GHMC Mayor Mohammed Majid Hussain along Deputy Mayor G Raj Kumar held all party meeting with the floor leaders and standing committee members in connection with the ongoing strike in the GHMC. The team collectively felt that this is the season for communicable diseases, in which any local body act with utmost care and concentration on health and sanitation aspects. They have extended their full support to the GHMC officials from the ground level and directed them to go firm with the proposed contingency plan.
The Mayor said that the GHMC is providing EPF and ESI facility for 24,775 employees and GHMC is the only Corporation in the entire Country providing who could enable the deposit of salary of outsourcing in to individual accounts. He further said that the GHMC is paying more than that was mentioned in GO No 11 and ready to help the workers. He further said that GHMC is the first Corporation in the State who is providing Rs 4 lakh towards insurance. The Mayor is aggrieved with the attitude of the union leaders who stopped all the sanitation work with short notice and causing much inconvenience to the public.
Earlier, the GHMC Commissioner held a meeting with 10 unions’ Joint Action Committee and the meeting went on very coordinated way. They have requested the Commissioner to sanction supervisory allowance to Entomology Field Assistants as was given Sanitary look in to the main demands reminding the Government for purchase of new Field Assistants, to differentiate the salaries for skilled and unskilled workers in Malaria wing, to establish Zone wise mechanical workshops to maintain the GHMC vehicles and to write a reminder to the Government for seeking permission to purchase new vehicles for GHMC.
The Commissioner responded to requests very positively and assured that GHMC will be imparting training to GHMC drivers from APSRTC and RTA officials. He further informed that GHMC will be taking undertaking from outsource employees saying that they will not come under Income Tax purview in order to stop the deduction of professional tax. The unions have assured that they will come forward to settle the issue at the earliest and in the interest of the employees as well as citizens of the cities.
