Hyderabad, August 19 : Government Whip Toorpu Jayaprakash Reddy alias Jagga Reddy on Monday requested the high-powered Antony Committee to visit the Osmania University and Kakatiya University to address the concerns of students who participated in Telangana agitation.
Talking to reporters in the Assembly premises here, Jagga Reddy informed that he has written a letter to the Antony Committee stating that several students of Osmania and Kakatiya varsities have sacrificed their lives for the cause of statehood for Telangana. Therefore, he said that the Committee should interact with their families and ask Centre to extend financial support to them. Further, he said that the Antony Committee should also listen to the grievances of students who lost precious academic period due to prolonged Telangana agitation.
Jagga Reddy also appealed to the people, especially students of Seemandhra region, not to resort to extreme acts like suicide which would put their families into trouble.
The Sangareddy MLA said that a resolution in State Assembly was not required for the formation of Telangana and it could be done by directly introducing a Bill in the Parliament. INN
