Samaikhyandhra protest: Thota Vani shifted to hospital

Kakinada, August 16 : Thota Vani, wife of Stamps and Registration Minister Thota Narasimhan, who was on fast-unto-death in protest against State’s bifurcation for the last six days was forcibly shifted to a hospital in the early hours of Friday.

The decision to forcibly shift Vani to a hospital was taken by the local police after her condition deteriorated on Thursday evening. Additional forces were deployed around the hunger fast venue and she was shifted to a nearby government-run hospital.

Earlier, AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh had called up Vani on Thursday evening appealing her to withdraw the fast and express her concern before the Antony Committee. However, she did not listen to his appeal and continued the fast leading to deterioration of her health. INN
