Vijayawada, August 11: Threatening to intensify the Samaikhyandhra agitation, Congress MP Lagadapati Rajagopal on Sunday said that Andhra Pradesh would remain one State.
Addressing a meeting at Jaggayyapet here, Lagadapati said that the division of Andhra Pradesh would spell disaster for both the regions, particularly the Seemandhra region. He said that Andhra and Rayalaseema regions would be denied their due share in water for irrigation and drinking. Further, the people from Seemandhra region would lose employment and education opportunities. Further, the division would not only stall the on-going projects, the new government of Andhra Pradesh would have no resources even to pay salaries to its employees.
Lagadapati said that Hyderabad does not belong to any one region as it was jointly developed from all three regions in the State.
