Hyderabad, Aug 10: Union Textiles Minister Kavuri Sambasiva Rao on Saturday claimed that nine union ministers from Seemandhra region have opposed the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.
Talking to reporters here, Kavuri said that the union ministers did not soften their stand on State’s bifurcation and would continue to oppose the decision. He said that the division of Andhra Pradesh would serve the interest of only a few political leaders while the people of all three regions would suffer afterwards. He said that the division would complicate things in both the States.
Kavuri said that nine union ministers have conveyed their opinion to the Congress High Command before and after the decision of Congress Working Committee was announced. Further, he said a detailed representation would also be made to the AK Antony Committee on the implications of bifurcation. He said that the division would reduce the prominence of Andhra Pradesh. However, he said that he would abide the final decision of the Congress High Command.
The union minister claimed that the people from Andhra and Rayalaseema regions have sold their properties elsewhere to settle down in Hyderabad. He said that the city witnessed overall development due to their investments. However, now the same people are hurt after being told that Hyderabad does not belong to them anymore.
