New Delhi, July 27 : A day after Congress High Command made clear that it was in favour of formation of Telangana State, the leaders from Andhra and Rayalaseema regions have intensified efforts to prevent the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.
A delegation comprising union ministers and MPs from Seemandhra region called on Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh at latter’s residence requesting him not to divide the State. Union ministers Kavuri Sambasiva Rao, K Chiranjeevi, MM Pallam Raju and D Purandeshwari and MPs K Bapiraju and Anantarami Reddy were part of the delegation. They told the Prime Minister that formation of Telangana would lead to a series of new problems for the country.
It may be mentioned that the Congress Core Committee which met at the Prime Minister’s residence on Friday under the chairmanship of Congress President Sonia Gandhi has reportedly decided to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh. However, the decision is likely to e made officials after the meeting of Congress Working Committee (CWC) likely to be held next month. INN
