Hyderabad, June 18 : Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Tuesday assured the State Legislative Assembly that all steps were being taken for the safe return of AP pilgrims from the flood-hit Uttarakhand.
Making a statement on the floor of the House, the Chief Minister said that nearly 3,000 pilgrims from Andhra Pradesh were stranded in Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and other places. He said he spoke to his counterpart in Uttarakhand on the steps to be taken for the safe return of pilgrims.
The Chief Minister said that a control room has been set up to help the stranded pilgrims and their families and as many as 12 helicopters have been pressed into service. He said that the State Government officials were in constant touch with the Uttarakhand Government on the issue. INN
