Authorities to act tough against power theft

Hyderabad, May 29 : All out efforts will be initiated for reduction of commercial losses by arresting theft of energy to the maximum extent possible by initiating the latest Information Technology and to maintain liaison with local Law and Order machinery of the Police Dept of State Government for getting security cover, assistance for the employees and engineers of power utilities working in Detection of Pilferage of Energy (DPE) wing.

Disclosing the above details, Y Nagi Reddy, senior IPS officer of 1997 batch, while assuming the charge on Wednesday as Joint Managing Director (Vigilance & Security) APTRANSCO, said that power sector is technology intensive sector which plays a pivotal role for the overall economic development of the State. A special mechanism will be adopted to ensure the Anti-power Theft Squads (APTS) of APTRANSCO in all circles to Co-ordinate with DPE wings in carrying out their field inspections without fear and favour to arrest theft/pilferage of energy.
