Hyderabad, March 1 : The Majlis Bachao Tehreek has accused the Andhra Pradesh Police and a section of media of trying to demonise the Muslim community over the issue of Dilsukhnagar twin blast.
Referring to the missing of 22-year Syed Adnan, a B.Com final year student of Anwarul Uloom College and a resident of Amin Colony of Sayeedabad, MBT Corporator Mohammad Amjadullah Khan Khaled said that the student has been picked up by the police personnel two days ago for questioning into the blast case. He said Adnan’s father Syed Haji was not being given any information about his whereabouts by the police.
Amjadullah Khan visited Adnan’s residence on Friday and assured the family of providing all help.
The MBT Corporator said that both Hindus and Muslims were killed and injured in the twin blast. Since it was a terror strike, it should not be linked with any religion. However, he said instead of also suspecting the involvement of Right-Wing groups, the investigating agencies have been trying to harass the Muslim youth by picking them up indiscriminately in the name of questioning.
Amjadullah Khan also condemned some Telugu news channels for projecting and linking the Muslim youth with terrorists’ outfits. He said the communal-face of media was exposed since the blast took place. He said the media channels were arriving at conclusions without having any base. He said if the reporters of those channels were having concrete information, then they should pass on that information to the investigating agencies so that the case could be cracked. However, he said some communal-minded channels and reporters were deliberately trying to project the Muslim youth in a bad light.
The MBT leader also questioned the Hyderabad and Cyberabad Police for carrying out parallel investigation. He said when the National Investigation Agency was investigating the agency, the local police should only assist the NIA, instead of trying to dilute the probe by picking up Muslim youth for questioning. He said taking the innocent Muslim youth, who were given clean chit in Mecca Masjid blast case, in custody for questioning raises several doubts with regard to the role of Andhra Pradesh Police.
Amjadullah Khan said that the Hyderabad and Cyberabad Police was trying to widen the rift between the Muslims and Congress Government. He said by arresting and harassing innocent Muslim youth, some police officials were trying to defame the Kiran Kumar Reddy Government. He also accused the Andhra Pradesh Police of acting at the behest of police of Karnataka and other BJP-ruled States like Gujarat.
The MBT Corporator demanded that the Hyderabad and Cyberabad Police abolish the 15 investigation teams that were formed to probe the case and extend full support to the NIA in carrying out investigation.
