Akbaruddin Owaisi’s bail petition judgment today

Adilabad, January 24: The Nirmal Court will today pronounce the judgment on the bail petition of MIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi.

It may be mentioned that the Akbaruddin Owaisi was arrested by the Nirmal Police in the alleged hate speech case on January 8.  After sending him to 14-day judicial remand, the court has also granted five-day police custody for further investigation. However, the police surrendered his custody after four days and he was sent back to Adilabad District Jail. At the end of judicial custody period on January 22, the court has extended his judicial remand till February 5.

On Wednesday, Akbaruddin Owaisi’s bail petition was heard by Adilabad’s First Additional District and Session Court. Arguing the case, Akbar’s advocate Niranjan Reddy told the court the MIM leader’s health has been deteriorating as he has been suffering from various ailments. He accused the police of ignoring the health status of Akbaruddin Owaisi while showing urgency in arresting him.

Akbar’s lawyer also slammed the police for registering the case under serious Sections like 121 and 124A. He said Akbar Owaisi was a floor leader of a reputed political party and did not violate the law.

The counsel argued that the translation of Akbaruddin Owaisi’s Urdu speech was not done properly and it has been distorted. He said the MIM MLA has only given references of speeches made by others including senior BJP leader and advocate Ramjeth Malani. Therefore, he appealed to the court to release him on bail.

After hearing the argument, the judge A Venkateshwar Reddy reserved the judgment for Thursday. The judgment on the bail petition of MIM’s Nirmal Town president Azeem Bin Yahya will also be delivered today.
