Hyderabad, Jan 19 (INN): Deputy Chief Minister Dr T Rajaiah on Monday admitted that five deaths have been reported across Telangana due to Swine flu this year.
Speaking to media persons here, the Deputy CM said that a total of 141 cases of Swine flu have been reported in Telangana. He blamed the cold wave conditions in the State for the rise in cases of Swine flu. However, he assured that all steps were being taken to prevent the spread of Swine flu and effective treatment is being given to those affected with the disease.
Dr Rajaiah also ordered high-level probe into the death of an infant reportedly due to administering of polio drops on Sunday. He said no such deaths have been reported during the last 15 years and nearly 40 lakh children were administered the drops in the first phase of Polio Immunization drive taken up on Sunday. He said the second phase of polio drive would be launched on January 22. He said that the World Health Organisation has declared Telangana as a polio-free State.
Stating that vacancies in the health department would be filled soon, the Deputy CM assured that total transparency would be maintained in the recruitment process. He said there will be zero tolerance to corruption in health department across Telangana State. He also claimed that there were no contract employees in the medical and health sector.
