BJP objects to Mayor’s review meeting

Hyderabad, Aug 11 (INN): GHMC BJP floor leader Bangari Prakash on Monday objected to the review meetings being conducted by Mayor Mohammed Majid Hussain.

In a representation made to GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar, Bangari Prakash said that in view of attending to these review meetings almost all the officers at Head Office level including all Additional Commissioners and Zonal Commissioners are not available in their chambers after lunch. “The visiting hours fixed by almost all the officers are from 3 PM to 5 PM. General public use to meet the officers during the visiting hours fixed by them, with high expectations of redressal of their grievances. But due to Mayor’s review meeting, people are unable to meet them for the last one week,” he said.

Bangari Prakash requested the Commissioner to suggest the Mayor not to hold any meetings to review any subjects unless of urgent nature, with a view to enable the officers to present in their chambers during visiting hours. Instead of holding review meetings, the Mayor may also adopt alternative method of reviewing various issues during the Standing Committee meetings or by convening the weekly meetings on regular basis, he advised.
