TRS Govt implemented 99% of promises: KCR

Hyderabad, March 13: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday claimed that the TRS Government has implemented 99% of promises that it made with the people of Telangana.

Replying to two-day debate on Governor’s Address in Legislative Assembly, KCR said except for KG to PG free education, all other promises made by the TRS in its election manifesto have been fulfilled. He said KG to PG free education too would be a reality soon.

In his two-and-a-half hour speech, the Chief Minister countered almost all the allegations leveled by the opposition parties and gave a detailed account of schemes being implemented by his government. He said that the Mission Bhagiratha works were going on in full swing and by the end of this year, 6188 habitations and 12 municipalities in the State would get tapped water supply. He said every household in Telangana would get tapped water supply in the next three years.

As against 29 lakh pensions given in united Andhra Pradesh, 35.7 lakh people are being provided monthly pensions under ‘Aasra’ scheme. About 4.75 lakh Beedi workers were being given Rs. 1,000 pension per month. He said poor girls belonging to SC, ST and Minorities were being provided financial assistance of Rs. 51,000 at the time of their marriage under the Kalyana Lakshmi/Shaadi Mubarak scheme. He said the scheme would be extended to BCs and upper caste girls from next financial year. He made it clear that the government would not implement the ‘Bangaru Talli’ schemes initiated during previous Congress regime.

The Chief Minister said that 2BHK housing was being given top priority as it would provide shelter to nearly 5 lakh poor beneficiaries. He said one 2BHK house being given by TRS Government was equivalent to six houses given by previous Congress Government under Indiramma Housing scheme. He denied reports that contractors were not coming forward to construct 2BHK houses. He said big builders have been requested to construct the houses under Corporate Social Responsibility. He said the beneficiaries of 2BHK houses would be selected by the respective District Collectors and MLAs or Ministers would have no role in selection process. He said that the government had sanctioned 60,000 houses during current financial year.

KCR alleged that the Congress party was trying to stop implementation of 2BHK houses as it fears that people would always vote for TRS if State Government gives them 2BHK houses. He claimed that Congress MP Gutha Sukhender Reddy wrote a letter to HUDCO asking it not to sanction loan to Telangana Government.

Under the new investment policy, the Chief Minister informed that so far nearly 100 companies have invested about Rs. 33,000 crore in the State. He said a Textiles Park was being constructed in Warangal and a Pharma City was being established in Hyderabad. With an increase of 16%, Telangana has reached on top position in IT exports in the country in 2015-16.

The Chief Minister claimed that the crime rate in Hyderabad has come down by 14% and the Law & Order situation was better.

Speaking about the promises of 12% Reservation for Muslims and STs, the Chief Minister said a special session of Assembly would be conducted in the next two months to pass a resolution seeking to increase reservation percentage. He said that the State Government proposes to adopt Tamil Nadu’s model of giving 69% reservation which is 19% more than the Supreme Court’s ceiling. He said that the State Government has already constituted Sudhir Commission and Chellappa Commission to study the socio-economic and educational conditions of Muslims and STs. Both are expected to submit their reports within two months. Those reports would be referred to Backward Classes Commission and later a resolution would be passed in the Assembly.

KCR made it clear that reservation would not be given on the basis of religion, but on backwardness.

The Chief Minister also listed out other schemes being implemented by the TRS Government. (INN)
