Hyderabad, June 21 : Union Minister of State for Commerce (Independent Charge) Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday filed her nomination for the lone Rajya Sabha seat from Andhra Pradesh.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu had left the seat for the BJP as a gesture of alliance between the two parties. Accompanied with the Chief Minister, BJP leaders G Kishan Reddy and Ki Haribabu and other leaders, Sitharaman submitted her papers to the Legislature Secretary.
The Rajya Sabha seat had fell vacant due to the demise of Dr N Janardhan Reddy. The polling will be held on July 3 and the counting of votes will take place on the same day. INN
