GHMC general body takes several major decisions

Hyderabad, June 21 : The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation took several major decisions during its general body meeting held here on Saturday.

The GHMC has resolved to constitute a Committee comprising Deputy Mayor Mahmood Ali and all the floor Leaders headed by Mayor Mohammad Majid Hussain to monitor the funds of SC/ST Sub-Plans for the year 2014-15. The Committee will finalize the matter and will submit a report to the Standing Committee at the earliest.

GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar has been asked to submit a detailed report on amount spent for SC/ST Sub Plan within three working days.

The Corporation has unanimously requested the Commissioner to utilize all the funds earmarked for SC/ST sub plan at 15% and 6.2% at the rate under GHMC budget of Rs.260.04 crores and of Rs. 94.04 crores to provide all basic minimum facilities for the SC/ST residents who are residing in the slums as proposed by the Corporators as per the orders contained in G.O.Ms. No. 265 of MA&UD.

The GHMC has also unanimously resolved that all the maintenance works be executed in and around all the religious places for ensuing Bonalu and Ramzan festivals for which all the Corporators need to inform the elected body regarding their works which are being taken up in their wards. All the visits to the area of the Corporators should be informed to Corporators and also the estimates of the works should be prepared at the earliest.

The corporations has unanimously accorded approval for the permission for incentives to all the executive staff i.e., Bill Collectors, Tax Inspectors, Valuation Officer, Deputy Commissioner etc., as per the prescribed criteria for achieving highest collection for the year 2013-14 without insisting the approval from the Government.

It has also been decided to demolish all the structures which are being effecting under road widening and whose compensation has been sanctioned by the Standing Committee to the owners of the effected properties within 15 days. The process of shifting of electric poles will be completed in a fortnight for which the amount has already been paid to the departments. There are already two Land Acquisition units is operating in GHMC which is unable to meet the requirements therefore the Corporation unanimously resolve to establish the 3rd unit of Land acquisition for speedy purpose. The explanation or disciplinary action should be called for from the concerned officer where these illegal structures are being encroached.

The GHMC has also directed the Commissioner to issue a notification for direct recruitment of 2600 posts within a month’s time. The State Government had earlier ordered filling up of the posts in various cadres in two phases. However, the order was not implemented. Therefore, the GHMC has decided to conduct direct recruitment.

The Corporation has unanimously resolved and requested the Commissioner to review the bulk garbage / trade license and put up the proposals to the Standing Committee immediately and further directed the Commissioner to purchase new vehicles for the ensuing festivals of Bonalu and Ramzan.

The GHMC General Body meeting was chaired by the Mayor and also attended by ex-officio members including MPs Bandaru Dattatreya, Ch. Malla Reddy and Konda Visweswar Reddy, MLCs Syed Aminul Hasan Jafri, B. Venkat Rao, M.S. Prabhakar Rao and Mohd. Saleem, MLAs Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Teegala Krishna Reddy, Maganti Gopinath, Jaffer Hussain, Kauser Mohiuddin, T. Prakash Goud, K.P. Vivekananda, Madhavaram Krishna Rao, Arikepudi Gandhi, G. Sayanna and Ahmed Bin Abdullah Balala.  INN
