TRS ignored T-martyrs’ families: Errabelli

Hyderabad, June 12 : Telugu Desam Party floor leader Errabelli Dayakar Rao on Thursday accused the Telangana Rashtra Samithi of ignoring the families of martyrs who laid down their lives for the statehood cause.

Speaking on the Motion of Thanks on Governor ESL Narasimhan’s address in the State Assembly, Errabelli said that the TRS did not give the deserved treatment to those who participated in the Telangana movement. Citing instances, he said although TRS gave ticket to Shankaramma, mother of Srikanth Chary, but did not ensure her victory. Similarly, only one student was given party ticket.

Intervening on the issue, Legislative Affairs Minister T Harish Rao said that the TRS had at least expressed its commitment towards Telangana martyrs, whereas, the TDP has completely ignored the Telangana martyrs. He said that the TDP should not have fielded its candidate against Shankaramma to ensure her unanimous victory. He said that the TRS Government would give Rs 10 lakh monetary assistance to each family of martyrs and also provide one government job.

Defending his stand, Errabelli said that he was ready to quit his seat if the TRS would have nominated Shankaramma from Palakurthy Assembly segment. However, he said that the TRS Government could still make Shankarmma a Member of Legislative Council and induct her in the cabinet.

Continuing his speech on Governor’s address, Errabelli said that the people have voted for TRS hoping that each family would get a job and three acres of lands. However, he said that the government did not mention anything about these promises in the Governor’s address. Further, he said as against the promise of eight hour power supply, the farmers are being supplied power only for three hours. He asked the government to come out with a long-term strategy to overcome power crisis.  INN
