Beas River Tragedy: Bad weather delays shifting of bodies

Hyderabad, June 12 : In view of bad weather conditions, the authorities have cancelled the shifting of bodies of two students who were killed in Beas River mishap, by air to Delhi and they are being sent to Delhi Air port by road.

The bodies of T Upendra and Koner Arvind Kumar will reach Delhi Air Port by Friday morning and the local officer stationed at Delhi Airport will then make further arrangements to send the mortal remains to Hyderabad.

The officers stationed at Mandi district have reported that the first body was found in the early hours of their rescue operation and the second dead body was recovered near dam area. With the recovery of these two bodies, the rescue teams have so far recovered eight dead bodies from the Beas river waters. Meanwhile, NDMA Vice- Chairman Marri Shashidhar Reddy on Thursday visited the incident spot and witnessed the rescue operations. The search operation to trace the bodies is still on with specialised teams and special equipments like under water cameras.

Telangana Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy and TRS MPs Jithender Reddy and Vinod Kumar had a meeting with the NDMA Vice-Chairman and the chief of the rescue operation teams at Mandi district and decided to continue the rescue operations further.

The State Government of Himachal Pradesh has provided a toll free No. 1800-180-8024 for the use of people to know the status of the rescue operation. INN
