GHMC, HMR chiefs review Metro Rail works

Hyderabad, June 7 : GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar directed the officials to strengthen the barricading and take up safety measures on the narrow roads where the HMR works are in progress. Keeping in view of the rainy season, the barricading must be strengthened and there should be a close watch on the ditches where the roads have been dug for the safety of the public, he said.

The GHMC Commissioner, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) and HMR MD NVS Reddy inspected the Metro Rail Corridor-I route from Nirankari Bhavan, Lazarus Hospital, Lakdikapul to Rangmahal Junction, Jambagh etc., accompanied by engineers and officials of L&T, GHMC, HMR and Traffic Police.

The Commissioner directed the HMR Officials to remove the barricading where the works are completed. He asked the GHMC Engineering Department officials to take up the road recarpeting works and take up the works in planned way so that at least 2 vehicles on both sides of the roads can move easily. He also directed the Engineering wing to raise the manholes where they are below the road level and remove the encroachments causing are inconvenience to the public at the HMR works.

Somesh Kumar stressed the need for maintaining free flow of traffic during the execution of Metro Rail works as lot of problems are being faced by the pedestrians, cyclist and two-wheeler riders.

Somesh Kumar and NVS Reddy have instructed the officials to complete the pier foundation work abutting Nirankari Bhavan at Lakdikapul at a fast pace. They also wanted acceleration of shifting of LT poles opposite Venkateshwara Hotel by L&TMRHL for completion of road widening in this stretch to ease the traffic movement at Lakdikapul Junction.  INN
