CEDM to begin Civil Services coaching for minorities

Hyderabad, Feb 18 : The Center for Educational Development of Minorities of Osmania University will begin the first batch for free coaching for UPSC Civil Services Examination CSAT – 2014 for the students belonging to minority communities of Andhra Pradesh.

Addressing a press conference here Minorities Welfare Commission Shaik Mohammed Iqbal and CEDM Director Prof S A Shukoor informed that the initiative is aimed at providing high level coaching at a few reputed private coaching centres, for which 100 candidates will be selected on merit basis through a screening test. Tenders have been called from the private coaching centres to impart the training, they said. The State Government has sanctioned Rs 70 lakh for the scheme.

The candidates desirous of enrolment in the six-month coaching for the Civil Service Examinations 2014 may apply on or before February 25th at 10 designated CEDM/RCEDM Centres across the State. The centres are located in Nizam College (Hyderabad), Osmania College (Kurnool), Andhra Muslim College (Guntur), Pithapuram Beach Quarters – AU Campus (Visakhapatnam), Govt Junior College for Boys (Nizamabad), Govt Girls High School (Karimnagar), NTR Govt Degree College for Women (Mahabubnagar), Islamia Arts and Science College (Warangal), Municipal Urdu Girls High School (Kadapa) and Govt Degree College for Women (Medak).

The candidates should enclose copies of the Marks Memo of Degree and two latest passport size photographs along with the application.

The screening test will be held at the above centres on 2nd March from 11 AM to 1 PM. Application forms and details can be downloaded from the CEDM’s website “http://cedmou.ap.nic.in”.

SM Iqbal and Prof Shukoor have requested the minority community students to avail this unique opportunity and harness their abilities to take us various competitive examinations. They informed that candidates will be selected on the basis of merit in Screening Test plus 25% of degree marks. Only minority candidates of Andhra Pradesh who have already completed degree are eligible to apply.

Further, the total annual income of the candidate and his/her parents should not exceed Rs 1 lakh. The candidates who have already availed of the same coaching earlier from CEDM are not eligible. As many as 33 per cent seats will be reserved for women candidates and three per cent for Physically Handicapped persons.  INN
