Hyderabad, Jan 24 : A high power delegation of the Tanzanian government led by the Tanzanian Prime Minister’s Permanent Secretary Jummanne A.Sagini called on HMR MD NVS Reddy on Friday to understand the challenges and intricacies of executing a mega infrastructure project in public private partnership mode.
Stating that they have heard much about the unique financial model and engineering innovation of Hyderabad Metro Rail project from international experts on infrastructure development, the delegation wanted to understand the innovative features of the project.
In a power point presentation, HMR MD explained the bid procedure, legal documents, technical specifications, financial model and other components of the ppp model in which the Hyderabad Metro Rail project is being developed. The communication strategies and the engineering solutions adopted to solve several sensitive issues that are cropping up during the execution of the project in the congested city roads were explained. He informed the delegation that the Hyderabad Metro Rail project is being executed not as a simple mass transportation project but as a multipurpose urban redesign project with components like integration with other modes of transport, running of feeder bus services, creation of pedestrian facilities, bicycle stations, street furniture and special facilities for elders, women, children, etc.
Appreciating the engineering innovation, pre-casting methods to avoid inconvenience to road users during construction, financial model and socio-economic objectives of the project, the Tanzanian delegation thanked NVS Reddy and sought his expertise and guidance for undertaking infrastructure projects in Tanzania.
