New Delhi, Dec 28 : Railways Minister Mallikarjun Kharge has termed the incident of fire in Bangalore City-Nanded Express, which claimed 23 lives, as most tragic and unfortunate.
The minister has expressed his deep condolences to the bereaved families. He has given instructions for best possible treatment to the injured persons. He also announced ex-gratia payment of Rs 5 lakhs in case of death, Rs 1 lakh in case of grievously injured and Rs 50,000 in case of simple injuries. An inquiry by Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) has been ordered by the Railway Minister.
Kharge himself is rushing to the site. Under his directions, Railway Board Chairman Arunendra Kumar, Member Electrical/Railway Board Kul Bhushan and Director General (Health Services) are also rushing to the accident site from Delhi. Senior Officers of South Western Railway are already at the site. INN
