Dowry harassment drives woman to suicide

Hyderabad, Dec 19 : Alleged harassment for more dowry by her husband drove a 30-year-old woman to suicide in the Jeedimetla police limits.

According to police, the deceased, N Lavanya, was allegedly being harassed by her husband Gurucharan of Jagatgirigutta. Gurucharam had recently constructed his house and fell into debts. He was allegedly harassing his wife to get more dowry from her parents.

Upset with her husband’s harassment, Lavanya jumped from the first floor of her house. She sustained a grievous head injury and on being rushed to a nearby private hospital she was declared brought dead.

Jeedimetla police registered a case under Section 498 (A) and 306 against her husband and began investigations.

New-born female baby’s body found

Hyderabad, Dec 19 : The Uppal police on Thursday found the body of a new-born female baby from the Ramanthapur nala of Ramreddy Nagar.

Police say that the baby was aged about two days. The body was later shifted to the Gandhi Hospital mortuary for post-mortem. Further investigations are on.

Man found dead in mysterious circumstances

Hyderabad, Dec 19 : The Ghatkesar on Thursday began investigations into the death of a 45-year-old cook who was found dead at his residence under suspicious circumstances.

The deceased, Raja Babu, was found dead at his house in Annojiguda on Wednesday evening. Police also suspect that he might have consumed some unknown poison. However, the body was later shifted to Gandhi Hospital mortuary for post-mortem.

Missing businessman’s decomposed body found

Hyderabad, Dec 19 : A 38-year-old man, who went missing since last month, was found dead in the Balanagar police limits.

The deceased, M Mohan Reddy, a businessman, did not return to his house at IDA Bollaram since November 24. However, on Wednesday, the police found his dead body at IDPL Township. The body was highly decomposed and the cause of death would be ascertained only on receipt of post-mortem report, police said.

Unemployed B Tech Grad among two commits suicide

Hyderabad, Dec 19 : Having failed to find a suitable job a 32-year-old B Tech graduate ended his life.

According to Narsingi police, the deceased, Pavan Kiran, committed suicide by hanging to the ceiling fan at his residence in Hyder Shah Kote of Madhavi Nagar on Wednesday night. He was unemployed and was reportedly searching for jobs. However, the failure to find a suitable job led him to the extreme step, police said.

In another case, 45-year-old K Ramakrishna Raju committed suicide by hanging at his residence in Suraram on Thursday morning. He was allegedly suffering from severe stomach pain for the last few weeks and the same is suspected to have driven him to suicide.

Two killed in road accidents

Hyderabad, Dec 19 : A 40-year-old man died on the spot when the bike he was riding by a lorry near Mirzaguda crossroads.

According to Narsingi police, the accident occurred on Wednesday night. The deceased was later identified as Md Mukhtar, a fruit vendor and resident of Chintalmet of Rajendra Nagar.

In another case, 28-year-old MA Raheem died on the spot after he was hit and run by an unidentified vehicle near Shamshabad crossroads on Wednesday evening. The Shamshabad police registered a case and began investigation.

Three juveniles among four held for raping minor

Hyderabad, Dec 19 : The city police on Thursday arrested four persons, including three juveniles on the charges of kidnapping and raping a 14-year-old-girl from Bhavaninagar in the Old City.

According to the Bhavani nagar police, one of the accused was a 17 year-old-boy from Bandlaguda. He was a friend of the girl and called her to the Chandrayangutta area on Saturday on the pretext of meeting her. Accompanied by another friend, both took her and committed rape separately at an open place near Pahadishareef. The two friends violated the girl and dropped her in the evening at Chandrayangutta Bus stop and fled, Joint Commissioner of Police K. Shiva Prasad said.

The shocked girl then approached another juvenile standing at Chandrayangutta junction and sought his help requesting him to drop at her residence at Talabkatta. But the boy took her to another house at Fatehdarwaza and raped her, the official said.

Later, he introduced her to one Salman (20), an auto driver from Fatehdarwaza who promised to marry her and kept her at the same house and violated her for three days from December 14 before leaving the girl on Tuesday near her house in Bhavaninagar and fled.

The girl reached her house and narrated the entire incident to her parents after which they approached the police and lodged a complaint. The police registered a case under section 366, 376 of IPC, Criminal Amendment Act (A) 2013 and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and arrested the four persons and produced them before the courts.
