Hyderabad, Nov 27 : GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar has promised that he would treat employees/workers’ problems as his own problem in the capacity of head of the family and solve the problems at the earliest.
The GHMC Commissioner has inaugurated a one day training programme for sanitation workers of Circles of 11 & 13 organized at Shilparamam today. The Commissioner said that good results can be expected when the working conditions of employees/workers is hassle free.
Somesh Kumar while speaking about their rights said that from 1st January 2014 the salaries will be made available to them in their accounts on 1st of every month. He fixed up the responsibility on Deputy Municipal Commissioners and Medical Officers to see that their salaries should be paid on 1st of every month without fail. The GHMC will provide all the sanitation materials to the sanitation workers every year on particular due date conducting a camp to issue the materials.
The Commissioner has observed that lot of grievances have been received by him with regard to various discreprencies in the Provident Fund accounts, in this connection he said that the sanitation workers will be getting the salary particulars and deduction detail statement slips every month to know their balance and credited amount of their EPF, ESI and pensionary funds they need not be worried about their accounts which are being maintain properly by the concerned departments. The Commissioner has distributed EPF slips to the sanitation workers of 11 & 13 Circles during the training programme.
Somesh Kumar further informed that GHMC has also arranged ‘MAY I HELP YOU’ counters headed by a GHMC employee in all major ESI hospitals to guide the sanitation workers to take up their medical checkups at the ESI hospitals.
The Commissioner said every worker must attend their duties regularly right from morning 6AM to till 11AM to their allocated work in time duly signing the register by 6:05AM SAN POINT (sanitation point) and directed to take up the sweeping of the area of off duty sanitation employee who is on leave on that particular day, as a group. He further stated that keeping in view of their problems while sweeping the GHMC has arranged long brooms for sweeping without affecting their health and said that your work will speak the picture of GHMC.
Somesh Kumar said that he will be writing a letter to the Government in few days for the enhancement of their salaries in humanitarian angle as the Chairman of newly formed Committee. He further said that GHMC is planning to give incentives as a token of encouragement to the workers who are working regularly and sincerely.
The Commissioner instructed the sanitation workers to wear uniforms and batches without fail which confirms their identity and Radium Jackets will protect them from accidents. He further directed the sanitation workers not to give their pass books and ATM cards as a token of surety as there is a chance for misutilization.
Earlier the Sanitation workers were shown a 8 minute film about the better maintenance of sanitation by duly highlighting the role of sanitation workers. Sri S. Aleem Basha, Zonal Commissioner (West) has given a power point presentation about the rights and duties of sanitation workers and Sri L. Vandan Kumar, Additional Commissioner (H&S) has also explained about the EPF, ESI facilities and pensionary benefits by giving a power point presentation.
