Hyderabad, Nov 25: The APTRANSCO has directed DISCOMs to fully gear up to face any eventuality in view of expected Gale & Wind especially in the coastal areas as the Lehar Cyclone is all set to reach the state within few days and issued instructions to take up all the precautionary measures to avoid electrical mishaps.
The APTRANSCO CMD Suresh Chanda, while reviewing electrical restoration works in Helen cyclone affected areas with CMDs of APEPDCL and APSPDCL M.V.Seshagiri Babu and H.Y.Dora, said that the maintenance works are in full swing in the Helen cyclone affected areas and about 108 Nos. of substations were affected and all have been restored whereas 1.6 lakh services have been affected and around 96,000 have been restored, balance services could not be restored due to water logging especially in Konaseema region.
Further CMD also directed the CMDs of APSPDCL &APEPDCL to deploy more special Power Breakdown teams for the coming Lehar cyclone so as to ensure restoration of power and minimise the inconvenience to the public. He also advised that adequate stock of Distribution Transformers, Poles and other material be kept available at field offices so that works related to the power restoration can be completed without any delay.
He has also reiterated that the field officers should to take up all the precautionary measures and emphasised the need to take utmost priority to attend to the consumer complaints in Cyclone affected areas and also has cautioned the officials to be alert to attend to face any eventualities in view of the forecast issued by the Meteorology Department that AP is likely to be at the receiving end of another cyclone Lehar, by 28 November.
CMD/APTRANSCO appealed the General Public, Public Representatives & local officials of the District Administration to cooperate with the workers & officials of the power utilities in power supply restoration and rectification works, which are taken up on war footing and requested them to inform the officials of the DISCOMs of any loose lines, damaged poles, fire sparks etc, so that necessary precaution action can be taken up immediately to avoid any possible electrocutions in the flood affected districts.
