Hyderabad, Nov 18: Former minister JC Diwakar Reddy on Monday sought the support of leaders from different political parties for the formation of Rayala-Telangana.
Talking to reporters in the Assembly premises here, Diwakar Reddy said that the Kurnool and Anantapur districts of Rayalaseema region should be merged with Telangana State. He said the decision would resolve several problems that might crop in future. He predicted that there would a strong fight between Rayalaseema and Andhra regions for the new capital for Andhra Pradesh if Rayala-Telangana was not formed.
Diwakar Reddy claimed that the leaders belonging to Congress, BJP, CPI and TRS were in favour of Rayala-Telangana. However, they were not speaking about it in public fearing criticism. He also thanked the Union Ministers Kishore Chandra Deo and Kotla Surya Prakash Reddy for speaking in favour of Rayala-Telangana proposal.
He also clarified that he had no vested interest in seeking Rayala-Telangana. He said except a home in Hyderabad, all his businesses were based in his home town Anantapur.
