Newborn kidnapped from private hospital

Hyderabad, Nov 11 : A five-day-old baby girl was stolen from a private hospital here on Monday.

According to Musheerabad police, 28-year-old Rehana Begum of Bholakpur gave birth to a female baby in Farah Hospital of Dayara Market. After the delivery the baby and the mother were shifted to Room No 1 of the Hospital and both were being attended by grandmother Ghousia Begum.

However, on Monday at about 6.30 AM, while the baby and her mother along with the attendant were sleeping in the room, leaving the door partly opened, an unknown woman clad in black Burkha covering her face entered into the room asking Rehana Begum about the nature of her delivery. Rehana Begum did not reply and took turn to the other side and slept. Finding her sleeping, the unknown woman picked up the baby from the bed and went away from the staircase.

After some time, victim’s mother woke up and found her baby missing from the bed. She enquired with her mother and the hospital authorities and searches were made in the surroundings, but the baby was not traced. While the unknown woman was coming and leaving the hospital, one lady Shahenaz Begum, a tenant of the building witnessed her and noticed her descriptive particulars as medium height, stout built, dark complexion, and on noticing the child in her lap, she thought that, she might be taking the child to a nearby mosque for offering “Dua”.

On receipt of a complaint, the Musheerabad police registered a case and started investigations. Four special teams have been formed under the supervision of Asst. Commissioner of Police, Chikkadpally Division and a massive search is in progress to trace out the kidnapped infant. INN
