Hyderabad, Oct 27 : Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has directed Chief Secretary Dr P K Mohanty and the administration to distribute 10 Kg rice, enhancement of Financial assistance for clothing and utensils to Rs 5,000 from Rs 3,000 apart from 2 litres kerosene to each family of rain and flood victims in the State. The victims include evacuees from low-lying areas, Fishermen, Handloom weavers etc.,
The Chief Minister will take up Aerial Survey and visit rain affected areas in Prakasam and Guntur districts and review rescue, relief and restoration operations from tomorrow morning.
Kiran Kumar Reddy held a high-level review meeting on heavy rains and floods at Camp Office, on Sunday afternoon. He spoke to the Collector Srikakulam and other officials of various districts over phone and personally enquired about losses, damages and other details. Before this meeting, the Chief Secretary held a review with all the district collectors over video conference at secretariat and got the data.
Ministers – M Maheedhar Reddy, Kasu Krishna Reddy, Mohd Ahmedullah, the Chief Secretary, Disaster Management Commissioner Dr T Radha and other senior officials attended the meeting.
The Chief Minister has directed to take the help of the army and airforce, wherever necessary. The Chief Secretary informed that additional teams of NDRF from Odissa and Tamilnadu are reaching and 19 teams of NDRF consisting 760 personnel are on the ground for rescue and relief operations along with Police, Fire and Emergency, Revenue, Agriculture, and other all other concerned departments officers and staff. 10 teams of NDRF are rushed to Srikakulam as the flood levels of Vamsadhara and Nagavali increasing due to heavy rains in Odissa. Srikakulam district is badly affected continuously by ‘Philian cyclone and present heavy rains’.
Kiran Kumar Reddy has directed the administration to take up rescue, relief, restoration works on war-footing and the restoration and strengthening of minor irrigation tanks, Roads, drinking water sources on top priority. He has also directed the District Collectors to distribute ex-gratia to the deceased families and other assistance, material to the victims, as already several ministers are supervising the relief works in the districts..
The Chief Minister has asked all the officials to step up the efforts to enumerate accurately all the losses as soon as possible by constituting required special teams and get the data immediately to help the farmers and victims.
