Hyderabad, Oct 26 : Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy directed the officials of various departments to take up rescue, relief and restoration works on war-footing. He also wanted the restoration and strengthening of minor irrigation tanks to be taken up on top priority to store the water.
The Chief Minister held a high-level meeting at Camp Office on Saturday with ministers and officials and reviewed latest situation following the heavy rains and floods in different parts of the State.
He has also directed the District Collectors to distribute ex-gratia to the deceased families and other assistance and supply of essential commodities to the victims. Several Ministers are already supervising the relief works in the districts. The Chief Minister asked the Chief Secretary Dr P K Mohanty to hold a video/tele-conference with the all the Collectors of the affected districts.
As still it is raining and the Administration is busy in relief operations, the Chief Minister’s visit to the affected areas will be finalised tomorrow.
Ministers Anam Ram Narayana Reddy, M Maheedhar Reddy, K Parthasarathy and Kondru Murali, Chief Secretary Dr PK Mohanty, Disaster Management Commissioner Dr T Radha, DGP B Prasada Rao, DGP (Fire and Emergency) N Sambasiva Rao, Principal Secretaries – Sam Bob (R&B), Ajay Sawhney (Health), Sameer Sharma (MA&UD) and Aravinda Reddy (Irrigation), Agriculture Commissioner Madhusudana Rao, Fisheries Commissioner Praveen Kumar, Civil Supplies Commissioner Sunil Sharma and other senior officials of all the concerned departments attended the meeting.
The Chief Minister has asked all the officials to step up the efforts to enumerate accurately all the losses as soon as possible by constituting required special teams and get the data immediately to help the farmers and victims. He has directed that special care should be taken for providing medical assistance to the victims and also ensure supply of food, drinking water, essential commodities etc., INN
