Hyderabad, Oct 2 : Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Wednesday expressed happiness over the progress of Metro Rail works and directed the officials to make all efforts to complete them by March 2015.
The Chief Minister today morning unveiled the “Metro Model Coach” at Necklace Road. The Chief Minister said that this Project is the World’s largest Metro Project in Public Private Partnership model. He also said that three Projects– PVNR Express High-way, Nehru Outer Ring Road and the Hyderabad Metro Rail — will ease the traffic hurdles in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation area.
Ministers – Danam Nagender, M Mukesh Goud, Kasu Krishna Reddy, Pithani Satyanarayana and several officials and non-officials, Chief Secretary Dr P K Mohanty, Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) Managing Director Mr. N V S Reddy and others participated in the launching Programme.
The HMR covers three routes (corridors) with 72 kms in Phase-I, at a total cost of Rs.14,132 crore. The first 8 km stretch will be completed between Nagole-Mettuguda by the end of 2014 and will be opened for traffic in March, 2015. Ultra modern coaches with latest technologies are being imported from South Korea, with good passenger facilities and international safety standards. Concessionaire for the project L&T placed orders for import of 171 coaches at a cost of about Rs 1,800 crore, each coach costing about Rs.10 crore.
