New Delhi, Aug 10: Congress president Sonia Gandhi has reiterated that Telangana would be a reality soon.
The UPA Chairperson gave this re-assurance to a group of freedom fighters from Telangana who met her on the sidelines of 71st anniversary of Quit India Movement celebrated at Quit India Movement at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Friday. The freedom fighters – Pasam Chandrasekhara Reddy (Nalgonda), Venkata Rao (Mahabubnagar), Ramachandra Reddy (Warangal) and Nagabhushana Tao (Khammam) were among 121 freedom fighters who were honoured during ‘At Home’ programme by President Pranab Mukherjee at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Later, the freedom fighters met Sonia Gandhi and thanked her for taking a favourable decision on Telangana. She reportedly assured the freedom fighters that the Centre would soon carve out Telangana as the decision has already been taken and announced. However, she asked the Telangana people to wait in peace and avoid confrontation with Seemandhra people.
